Laurie Tjosvold Office and Accounting Director
Ms. Tjosvold has been with Chestnut Petroleum since February 2006. She has over 26 years experience in oil and gas accounting, as well as expert knowledge of our accounting software. Her experience in the oil and gas industry enables her to understand the complexities of oil and gas accounting, tax information and preparation, and revenue distributions and statements; all of which in turn, allow us to better serve our clients.
Carolyn Stewart Chief Compliance Officer
Ms. Stewart has been with Chestnut Petroleum since September 2003. Carolyn graduated from Austin College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She currently works for both Chestnut Petroleum and Chestnut Energy Partners. Ms. Stewart currently holds her Series 6, 22, 26, 39 and 63 securities licenses.
Gary N. Polasek Consulting Geologist
Mr. Polasek is a petroleum geoscientist with 29 years of experience working both conventional and unconventional play types, especially ones utilizing horizontal drilling technology. Previously he managed one of two divisions within Headington Oil Company, a medium sized independent, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. He also managed an integrated team of engineers, geoscientists, landmen, engineering and geological technicians. Mr. Polasek is a proven oil finder with a high economic success rate and is also a successful A&D analyst responsible for acquiring several multi-million dollar properties.
Wanda I. Smith Vice President Land Services
Ms. Smith holds a Jurist Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville as well as an MA in Political Science. She is a magna cum laudegraduate of Texas Womens University with a major in Government and a minor in Business Administration. Ms. Smith has worked in many different aspects of the oil and gas industry ranging from Land Attorney to Lab Technician to Database Administrator. She has previously worked at ARCO International and in senior management for a subsidiary of Chicago Title.
Charles R. Foster Vice President Acquisitions & Operations
Mr. Foster is a Petroleum Engineer with over 40 years of diversified experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. Most recently, he worked with Barnes Oil & Gas developing drilling and completion techniques in the oil section of the Barnett Shale. Prior to that, he worked with Chief Oil & Gas where he managed the drilling and completion of over 400 Barnett Shale wells, of which one-fourth were horizontal wells. Mr. Foster left Chief Oil & Gas LLC when they were acquired by Devon in 2006. Mr. Foster previously worked for Oryx Energy Company, where he first oversaw technical and operations professionals, and then gained increased responsibilities in operations in Houston, Denver, Dallas, and later Oklahoma City. Between Oryx Energy Company and Chief Oil & Gas LLC, Mr. Foster consulted with various independent oil and gas operations and was Drilling Manager for Rosewood Resources. He has extensive expertise in property evaluation, field operations, artificial lift, well completions, workovers and drilling. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and graduated from Texas A&M University in Bryan/College Station.
Laura Puckett Marketing and Media Manager
Ms. Puckett is a graduate of Baylor University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications in 2008. Laura has been with Chestnut Petroleum since July of 2008.
Daniel Ramirez
Mr. Ramirez is a magna cum laude graduate of Midwestern State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007. After spending several years working in university admissions and recruiting, he joined Chestnut Petroleum in January 2009. |

Mike Barrera Executive Vice President
Mr. Barrera was born and raised in Texas as a third generation oil man. After working in the international information technology sector, Mr. Barrera shifted his focus to finance. Mr. Barrera brings extensive oil and gas direct participation program experience encompassing both client relations and human resource management. Mr. Barrera has been with Chestnut Energy Partners since June of 2009.He currently holds both the Series 22 and 63 securities licenses.
Matthew de Gruyter Vice President
Mr. de Gruyter joined the United States Marine Corps immediately following high school. Following his time in the service he attended Metropolitan State College of Denver. Mr. de Gruyter’s professional background stems from oil and gas venture capital where he focused upon private equity management. Combining the experience of this aggressive industry with the leadership gained from the United States Marine Corps, Mr. de Gruyter brings a skill-set primed for the hyper-competitive industry of oil and gas. He joined Chestnut Energy Partners in September of 2009 and currently holds both the Series 22 and 63 securities licenses.
Michael Sena Vice President
Mr. Sena is a Colorado native who upon leaving the University of Colorado in 1996 spent the majority of his career in the Financial and Commercial Real Estate sectors of the industry. As a result of the strong demand globally for Oil and Gas, Mr. Sena decided to make a career move and entered the Oil and Gas industry in 2007. Over the last three years, Mr. Sena has focused primarily on Oil and Gas venture capital and private equity management. Combining the experience from the competitive Real Estate market and his expertise in Oil and Gas direct participation programs, Mr. Sena brings an array of investment knowledge for his clients. Mr. Sena has been with Chestnut Energy Partners since January of 2010.He currently holds both the Series 22 and 63 securities licenses. |
